Tabatabaei House | The bride of Iran’s houses
Tabatabaei House is an outstanding symbol of the rich lifestyle in 19th century in Kashan. This house which is well-known as the paradise of Iranian houses, is located in the neighborhood of other historical, worth-seeing attractions such as Boroujerdi House, Abbasiyan House, Ameriha House, Toy Museum, Soltan Amir Ahmad bathhouse and in addition, Agha Bozourg mosque and Kashan’s bazaar are also locating close to it.
The architecture of Tabatabaei House
The complex of Tabatabaei historical House, with a surface area of about 4700 square meters has 40 rooms, 4 yards, 4 basements, 2 Ghanat lines and 3 wind towers (wind catchers) which moderate the airflow. In addition to house’s Birouni (outer) and Andarouni (inner) parts, a part of the house was considered as a place for servants’ stay. Every corner of this house was built based on exceptional basics and is considered as one of the masterpieces of the old architecture.
Veil- style architecture means that the house was built in a way that the house’s inner parts are not visible from outside.
A small garden- pit style
Garden pit architecture means that the house’s garden was placed in a pit and on this account the building had more firmness and was more resistant to earthquake. In addition, its moisture was ideal for plants to grow and also it was a thermal insulation which would moderates the air.
An exceptional and charming style of architecture
Tabatabaei House’s plan was designed in a symmetrical form and the house’s outdoor area was designed with decorative plasterwork, wood carvings on wooden doors and windows and the house’s indoor area has beautiful paintings and eye catching colorful glasses. Since the house’s owner was in the carpet trade business, all of plasterwork designs were inspired by Iranian carpet design and Islamic bird and flower drawings. The House’s architects have created a durable and artistic structure with the most delicacy.
