Jiroft | A splendid cradle of civilization
Jiroft city is located in southern part of Kerman province and Halil Rood (Halil River), the longest river in the southeast of Iran, passes through it and because it is a fertile land, it is famous as Hend-e-Khoochak (the little India).
The name of Jiroft has become known to archeologists after some remains were discovered from an ancient buried city, near the current city of Jiroft. Theories propose that the remains belong to a forgotten culture, known as the Jiroft Civilization. This city was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
